Ten Thousand Villages

Ten Thousand Villages is a nonprofit organization that sells handcrafted products that were made by artisans from around the world such as Pakistan, India, Africa, etc.

I have had the opportunity to volunteer in this organization for a couple weeks during the christmas season doing Visual Merchandising. Here are some of the tasks I have completed during my time there.

Window Display

This was the only window display I have done at my co-op placement. I had the opportunity to be creative and display whatever products I chose. Since the New Year was coming up I've decided to do a New Year's Eve party theme using winter colours such as white, silver, and blue. Many customers have complimented my work and it has attracted many people to come and see the display.

Jewelery Wall Display

I would say this task was the most challenging one I have done in thie placement. The jewelery wall was too crowded and was bugging me at first. I took the initiative to organize the entire wall by colour, consolidate space, and have 3 of the same items per hook. This is the end result.

Back Wall Display

More pictures needed to be added to the back wall display because I have found some empty spots. I had to re-arrange almost the entire wall for everything to fit and also cover up some of the visible holes from before.

Gift Basket

One of the Volunteers asked me to create a nice gift basket for her husband for christmas because she loved my creativity.

Outdoor Signage

The outdoor signage was something I was in charge of throughout my entire time there.

Christmas Season Sale

After christmas was over I was in charge of marking all of the christmas items that were on sale for 50% and 75% off using red and green dots. I worked on this with the Store Manager who helped me gather all of the christmas stuff together. Then we organized everything and put all the christmas items on one fixture to keep it all together.

Jewelery Sale

We had some old jewelery that were found in the back room from last year so I put them out on the sale floor and priced them to 20% off.
